The World of Warcraft companion app has been around for a long time helping WoW players maintain their Auction House listing and check up on different features. We have learned that Blizzard will be completely removing the App after years of service.
The War Within is bringing some major changes to World of Warcraft, including Warbands that make so many new things account-wide, new talents to play around with, and a change to the Dracthyr race overall. With the good changes come a few maybe not-so-good changes, such as the removal of the WoW Companion app and the changes to the Human racial passive.
Blizzard posted a very brief announcement in regards to the app, as they state,
“With the release of The War Within™ pre-expansion content update, we will no longer support the WoW Companion App. After this date, players will not be able to update, download, or use the companion app and its features.
We want to thank everyone who has used the app as their companion for their adventures over the years!”
The comments are a mixed bag, some not even realizing the app was still around for use, and others sad to see it go. It isn’t a needed addon to the game to be successful, just a mini quality of life feature some players used to keep up on their characters when they were away from their desks.
Alongside the announcement of the app removal, Blizzard also posted the April 23rd Hotfixes that bring quite a few changes. The currency from Season Three of Dragonflight, Dreaming Crests, are being removed from the currency tab as they have become obsolete. Those who still have a stockpile will receive a little bit of gold in return for the lost currency.
Players will now be able to collect 120 of each type of crest each week, whereas before we could only collect 90. This means that there are plenty of opportunities to upgrade gear if need be as you traverse the new raids and the Awakened raids.
As for Season of Discovery, there are quite a few changes to the classes, such as Druid Natural Weapons talents increasing all damage done by Druids instead of just physical damage. Hunter's Chimera shot weapon damage has been increased to 135% from its previous 12-%, and Paladin's Sacred Shield duration has been extended to 60 seconds.
There are plenty more things to look forward to for World of Warcraft, as we know the Saga is in the works and on the way, as well as the release of the Cataclysm Pre-Patch in just a few more days.
