Blizzard has released the (10000 word!) patch notes for Diablo 4 Season 4 ahead of its playtest on the public test realm, which begins on April 2 and runs through April 9.
We reported on the changes more broadly in an earlier story and from looking over the notes it definitely seems like Blizzard has made good on its promise of “massive itemization changes” and also some very much appreciated buffs to Necromancer minions, Dust Devil Barbarians, and even some improvements to controller play.
The most notable of the class balance changes are the aforementioned Necromancer buffs. The Book of the Dead, which governs how a Necromancer’s minions function, is set to receive a complete overhaul in Season 4. There are many changes, but a couple of examples include the ability for Skeletal Warriors to run ahead of the Necromancer and initiate combat, Defenders gaining the ability to taunt, and also the fact that Necromancer minions will now inherit 100% of their stats. This buff is applicable to other classes with companions as well, including Barbarian, Druid, and Sorcerer.
Diablo 4 Season 4 will go live on the PC and console on May 14.
