Diablo Immortal has a new roadmap update, with details on the Lord of Terror’s return to Sanctuary. Yep, Diablo is coming back.

Blizzard is at Gamescom for the first time in a while as part of the Xbox presence, and they’re showcasing  what's on the way for their games. and Diablo Immortal is no different. The Age of Unmaking’s next chapter, The Worldstone Quest, is coming. Part I: The Crucible of Justice, goes live in September and you have to purify your soul from the corruption that has embedded itself in you and is consuming you as a consequence of destroying the Worldstone Shards.

Tyrael’s sword has been found, but you’re unable to wield it, as the blade reacts to the corruption within you. So, an effort is certainly ahead of you as you have to travel to the Cold Isles to cleanse your soul. This is what the latest update preview was hinting at, with an event that is relevant to the next chapter update.

Diablo will be back in part II of The Worldstone Quest, which will come out later this year. With his shard, Diablo can warp reality and alter creation. When part II arrives, there will also be a new zone, new Helliquary bosses, and more yet to be revealed. But first, we have to see what horrors arrive to challenge us in the first part next month.

If you haven't yet completed the Southern Dreadlands main questline, you'll want to do that before the update hits because that's a prerequisite before you dive into the Worldstone Quest.

The team also debuted a new video at Gamescom, with some of the devs talking about designing Diablo Helliquary bosses. Not only do they have to fit the setting, the team wants to give everyone  both a heightened sense of horror and of heroism at the same time. There are about 50 bosses at this point, and they all start with a concept and a story, with one of the devs commenting that they've probably hit everyone's personal horror by now. They'll still keep creating new ones though, of course.
