Blizzard will put The War Within 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition on sale on April 17th, with a countdown clock now on the Blizzard Gear store counting down until 10am PT/ 1pm ET on that date. The speculation has already begun on what it might look like.
With World of Warcraft set to release The War Within expansion later this year, we wouldn't be surprised if pre-orders go quickly for the Collector's Edition next week. When the WoW team released their 2024 roadmap, they placed The War Within somewhere between Summer and Autumn on the infographic, with a pre-patch this summer.
Another clue is that the alpha should be out before Season 4, which recently got a release date of April 23rd.
While we wait to see what happens when the clock ticks down to zero, the community is already speculating what might be in a CE, what it might cost, and whether it will even include the game. World of Warcraft is marking its 20th anniversary after all, first releasing in November 2004, so announcing a 20th anniversary CE is a whole other step than, say, Dragonflight’s release. Or even the 10th or 15th sets.
Part of the reason some are debating whether or not the game will even be included in the Collector’s Edition is the fact that the CE for Diablo 4 did not include a copy of the game. Yet, this is not just a CE, it’s an anniversary CE, and a milestone one at that. The War Within and anniversary are being mentioned together in this set, and 20 years of WoW is something we anticipate Blizzard going into in a big way this year.
