A new blog post from Blizzard shows off some of the unit changes between Warcraft 3 and Warcraft 3 Reforged.

A number of heroes and units have seen changes in design, indicating they’ve received more than just a lick of new paint. The heroes include Illidan, Cenarius, Tryande Whisperwind, and Maiev Shadowsong. Blizzard outlines what specifically was modified in the new models, like this blurb for Maiev,

“Maiev’s reforged model is quite distinct from her multiplayer sister, who wields a chakram but lacks her distinctive bladed cape and crescent back piece.”

Units changed include archers, dryads, druid of the claw, and mountain giant. Changes for the archers include,

“Archers are staples of the Night Elf army. They can cause serious damage with a Priestess of the Moon, and become even more effective as Hippogryph Archers later in the game.

Whether looking at concept art from Warcraft II, looking at bows in WoW, or the Improved Bows upgradewhich we ultimately drew inspiration fromwe do a healthy bit of research before creating each unit. The bows of Archers in Warcraft III: Reforged have a more traditional, pointed recurve where the string attaches.”

Warcraft 3 Reforged launches on January 28. Check out the full post and screenshots here.
