Black Desert is postponing several events, including the New Year's fireworks. Pearl Abyss is making the moves in order to comply with an official one-week mourning period issued by the Korean government after a plane crash yesterday.

The official mourning period is in response to a Jeju Air plane crash in South Korea that killed 179 people in one of the deadliest plane crashes in Korea. The government declared official mourning will last for seven days.

While the holidays are generally time to celebrate, and the swirl of events across all kinds of games recently have reminded us of this, this tragic event is causing a pause and a change in plans that we'll find out more about later. We can expect announcements from Pearl Abyss on new dates and clarifying which events are happening sometime after the official mourning period ends.

In postponing the events, the team at Black Desert Studio issued this statement (as shared on the Black Desert Console site):“Black Desert Studio sends its deepest condolences to the victims and wishes a swift recovery to the injured. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to their families. To honor this, we have decided to postpone the scheduled New Year community events and greetings video.

We will revisit these plans after the mourning period and proceed when the time feels appropriate."

These changes will happen franchise-wide.
