Black Desert Online is moving—its North American servers, that is. Pearl Abyss announced the server relocation back at the Calpheon Ball back in 2022, but it will finally happen this month. Black Desert Mobile also got a significant update, adding the region of North Kamasylvia.
The new server location move will happen on May 22nd, during the usual weekly maintenance. Since the launch of Black Desert Online in North America, the servers have been on the West Coast, but 70% of players on the North American servers are playing from the East Coast and Central US. In an effort to improve performance for everyone, the new North American server will be moved into the Central US. This should help performance and gameplay improve on the East Coast while the central location should even things out some more.
The team announced the move with a map of where connections are coming from, including some examples of what ping could look like. They also acknowledge that this move could have a bit of a negative impact on their performance, if they’re on the west coast, but this is intended to improve the player experience (something Pearl Abyss has been focusing on for a while) for the most people.
Over in Black Desert Mobile, this week saw the addition of the new foggy, treacherous North Kamasylvia region, with new zones to explore, strong monsters to challenge, and of course, new goals and loot. The new zones will also inflict Kamasylvia: Forest’s Wound, with its effects similar to those of West Kamasylvia on Shady Fog Forest Path. With such an ominous name, there are also many creatures to encounter to offer you a challenge. To proceed onto this path, the recommended CP is 60,000 and grows from there.
In North Kamasylvia you’ll also find a new Chaos Rift X, Tranquil Foggy Forest. Get a Virtuous Shield to enter there for 18 minutes of entry time to slay the monsters you encounter for rewards and glory.
