Black Desert Online teased its revamped Node Wars earlier this month, but today is the day the content update is live.
Node Wars are one aspect of Black Desert Online's PvP that pits guilds against each other for control over the various nodes in and around the game world. Controlling these nodes gives access to tax revenue, and more in the area you control, which means controlling one can be quite lucrative for the guild.
Node Wars have been revamped, according to Pearl Abyss, to make it a bit more streamlined, from making it easier to set up siege weaponry, such as the Hwacha or flame towers, and a streamlined UI makes navigating the set up much more fluid.
Reviving yourself also saw a revamp, meaning you can get back into the action much quicker - especially since your mount will revive with you now. This is good since the fighting over the Forts should be, in Pearl Abyss' estimation, "tense," especially as fewer forts than Guilds are generated on the map during each Node War.
Some forts will offer more rewards than others, especially the Question Mark forts, whose countdown end timer is unknown, meaning they are tougher to defend from enemies. The rewards for Node Wars are also expanded, making them even more lucrative this time around. According to a press release this morning:
"In addition to receiving tax income from the territory where the occupied fort is located, guilds can receive special buffs or guild funds (in-game currency). When players win in a territory group that includes Calpheon or Kamasylvia, they increase the chance of obtaining items in that area by up to 20% for a week. And players also will receive ‘personal rewards’, such as Gold Bars and other powerful items."
Pearl Abyss has put together an explainer video for those interested in learning more in-depth about the changes. Node Wars take place every Sunday through Friday at 6pm PT/9pm ET in NA.
In other Black Desert Online news, today is the day the server migration is taking place, moving the servers from the West Coast of the US to a Central US location. Pearl Abyss states this is, in part, to service the majority of North American Black Desert Online players who are on the East Coast, reducing server lag and ping for them.
