Today, Black Desert Online officially launches the massive 300v300 War of the Roses globally, with the first official competition of the season set for Sunday. Today's update also adds a number of changes, balance is classes, and adjustments, but the centerpiece of the entire update is the massive new conflict season.

After a pre-season to let player and the developers test out the mode, War of the Roses officially opens up its first season on Sunday after improvements and adjustments based on pre-season data and feedback. Since this is a massive mode that will support  conflict between up to 600 players, if you are looking to participate in this giant fight this weekend, now’s the time to get your guild ready. You can also participate in Third Legion as a solo player if you don't have a guild or a group that can make the schedule.

Some changes the team has made since the preseason include updates to the Spirit’s Altar,  which will now activate for the first time 10 minutes before the war starts, to trigger combat progression. A change to resurrection means you'll have to pick a sanctum that hasn’t been occupied in order to rez.

So if you are getting ready to storm an opposing castle with 299 of your closest friends, you have a few days to prepare and make sure you have 800 AP/DP score. Everyone who actively takes part will earn some kind of rewards, whether they are on  the winning team or the losing side and at each tier of participation.

Rewards have adjusted, with the Leading Guild, which sets the tone for the entire fight on both sides, getting higher rewards. Not only does this make sense for the extra work but it also adds an incentive to step up and be that Leading Guild. Third Legion players get an additional item, the Medal of Sylvia, as long as they didn’t get any penalties during the run. Pearl Abyss promises to keep an eye on rewards and missions and update them over time.

This week's update also adds a number of changes, including new sights to see in the environment. The ocean in Black Desert will also have a sea of stars with bioluminescent plankton now depicted underwater and auroras added to the night sky in certain places. It's not all about conflict, but there is a very large battle coming, so you can check all the details to prepare to fight or enjoy a peaceful sail.
