Go ahead, roll a new character

Black Desert Onlines latest update introduces Family-based life skills, which now lets each character in a family benefit and reduces grind.

The biggest change is how life skills will work. Essentially, when progressing in skills like farming, hunting, cooking, fishing, gathering, sailing, it will reduce the need to grind these all out on each character individually to benefit. Pearl Abyss has added the experience for each life skill to count it across a family. In spreading the effects to each character in a family, this will also make certain quests easier or faster to complete, and reduce repetition.

For those who have already put in the work to get themselves up to Guru 50, they have expanded those levels to 100 to accommodate the extra XP. However, the benefits do not change from level 50. Essentially, the benefits will stay the same but if you already leveled up, they are looking at eventual honor-based rewards. These will be announced later, since they wanted to expand this system to everyone as soon as possible.

This is the latest in a series of improvements the team has introduced to help improve the player experience in Black Desert Online. J’s Hammer of Precision is a way to enhance accessories without risk if the enhancement fails. No gear level losses, so taking a chance on enhancement is easier.

Similarly, the Ancient Anvil, which is also making its way to Black Desert Console soon, will also offer a guaranteed gear enhancement if you fail, which gives you essence, and use enough of that to activate a guaranteed upgrade. These join with earlier rounds of quest and content updates, streamlined requirements in some cases, an easier path to a Dream Horse, and more.

This week’s update also offers a weekend login event for gifts and Crom Coins, along with some other improvements and fixes.
