Black Desert Online Adds Sailing Management & NPC First Mates, and Land of the Morning Light Tourism Packages Are Here

Black Desert Online’s latest update ushers in 9th anniversary events, and continues building up sailing and The Great Ocean, introducing NPC first mates. Pearl Abyss is also once again teaming up to promote Korean tourism with some Land of the Morning Light and LoTML Seoul themed travel packages (that also have an in-game bonus).

The anniversary of Black Desert Online's global version is here, and there are a series of events celebrating 9 years of adventures. There are plenty of gifts, GM events,  permanent region titles, a cooking competition and even more to do and to participate in. 

Today's update continues Pearl Abyss's work in improving features, and more recent focus on sailing. The patch offers a new sailing management system that includes the ability to hire one of three first mates, with those NPCs each having different specialties and traits. Manage the sailors on your ship into different roles like cannoneer or helmsman, in addition to first mate, and you can even set up presets to make management faster. The sailors you assign gain special stat boosts and you can customize their arrangements at any time or for different circumstances.

The update also revamps Golden Pig Cave, in response to feedback. The cave will always be open, eliminating the limited time access rules. Now, this cave requires a Primordial Crystal to enter and you have 25 minutes to take down monsters in the zone. The existing version will remain under a new name, Fortune’s Golden Pig Cave. If you enjoy traveling, Pearl Abyss, in partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization, have introduced Land Of The Morning Light-themed trip itineraries. The team has worked to promote tourism and Korean arts before, as with last year’s Paris exhibition timed to the Olympics. Both Land of the Morning Light expansion updates were inspired by real world locations the devs traveled to and drew inspiration from, and there are ways to see some of them yourself. 

There are two packages that are live now through the end of the year, as well as two separate seasonal packages, with one in the spring and the other happening this fall. For the first 1,000 people to book a spring trip, a special box full of bonuses awaits.
