The Black Desert Online site has been updated with information released by the development team during today's BDO Festa 2018. Of particular note is the impending removal of the Renown system, the release announcement for the Archer class and the reveal of the new O'dyllita territory.
The notes on the forum begin with the hoped-for effects of both the Renown system and the Caphras Stones. However, over time the development team admits that the two did not work harmoniously and created an ever-widening gap between top end users and everyone else. To that end, Renown will be removed from the game, though Caphras Stones will remain.
Here are our future plans for Renown Score and Caphras Stones. First, remove Renown Score and all Renown Score bonus effects. Therefore, we will not only remove Renown Score, but also adjust the balance of DP so that users will be able to fight more fiercely and have a more enjoyable experience.
The last major update for BDO is going to be a beefy one and the team has big plans going into 2019:
- the Archer class will finally be released on December 12th
- the main story is being adjusted. Players will start in the Western Guard Camp. Once reaching Heidel, players will find three different storylines they can pursue
- monster difficulty is being adjusted to give appropriate challenge, growth, rewards
- the "new marketplace" is now being developed and tested in the Global Lab and will eventually be available on the web or via smartphone
- O'dyllita territory sometime in 2019. It is expected to arrive in Korea in the first half of the year and in NA/EU at a later date
- The Turo monsters will be added
- Territory War is under development
- Shadow Arena "is a new arena with a survival game mode"
