In a notice posted on the official Black Desert site, Pearl Abyss assuaged fears that new Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 owners would indeed be able to play on the new consoles the day they bring them home. The announcement did, however, seem less confident in the Playstation 5’s ability to run the game as it is today.
The news for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is primarily due to the systems inherent backwards compatibility, which will not require any additional purchases or game clients. On the Playstation 5, Pearl Abyss could not determine if that would be the case, but informed Playstation gamers that Sony is working hard to make sure that the game will be playable on the new console right out of the box.
Unfortunately, it didn’t seem that they were entirely certain this would be the case, and opted to update Black Desert Online gamers if anything changes in the future:
“Our partners at Sony are also working hard to make sure that PlayStation users will also be able to enjoy Black Desert on PlayStation 5 on the day that the console makes its way to your home. We will keep you updated if there are any updates in the near future!”
