Bill Roper has been hired by Improbable, makers of SpatialOS, as its Chief Creative Officer. His duties will include networking with development studios to make use of the cloud-based platform's features to expand and enhance new game play types within "massive, detailed and persistent online worlds".
He noted that Improbable’s customers — such as Bossa Studios, the maker of Worlds Adrift — want to build a “living universe, a persistent place with millions of creatures.” Roper believes that helping such companies realize their visions and overcome technical limitations could be “impactful and meaningful.”
Roper is a long-time game development veteran. He most recently worked as a vice president at Disney and was integral in the development of Disney Infinity. Roper has also worked in a variety of upper management positions at Cryptic Studios, Blizzard, and Flagship Studios.
