Need another Final Fantasy 14 class to grind for peak completionism? Dawntrail’s got you with the new Beastmaster job.
Announced during the FFXIV Fan Festival in Tokyo, the Beastmaster is the newest, and second, “limited class” job that’ll be released as part of the Dawntrail expansion.
Given the nature of a “Beastmaster” class, we can take a solid guess that, similar to other limited job content, Beastmaster players will be “stealing” or “studying” other creatures encountered during combat.
A “limited job” in FFXIV means that due to any number of factors, usually a high-powered arsenal of abilities, the job isn’t allowed into certain duties. However, in content that permits it, players can enter it in order to achieve job milestones, and their abilities, or even just cheese it using these absolutely broken abilities when possible.
Beastmaster is already canon in FFXIV far deep in some Shadowbringers side content. In the “Save The Queen” content, known widely as the Bozjan Southern Front or just Bozja, the Garlean forces are bolstered by a high-ranking Beastmaster named Lyon Helsos. Many Beastmasters are also present in the “Skirmish” field quests; all appear to tame beasts to use in combat.
Currently, Blue Mage is the only other “limited job” available, though it’s become a beloved source of collaboration for many players. It’s currently usable up to level 80, inclusive of the Shadowbringers expansion’s full suite of content.
We don’t have many details on gameplay and acquisition for now; it’ll likely be explained further during “Letter to the Producer” live streams leading up to Dawntrail. The new expansion releases this summer.
