Featuring off-the-wall perks that make your character a little funnier to play, Path of Exile's team has unveiled all the details of the Legacy of Precia event. For about 31 days, this event lets players try out extremely silly and, well, extreme builds tuned to specific “what if?” themes with 19 new Ascendancies.
So for example, the Harbinger Ascendancy for the Witch has a perk branch that gives outright immunity to Curses, Chill and Shock while channeling, though there’s also one that just straight-up adds 3 levels to all Herald Skill Gems on the Herald Ascendancy. A Whisperer branch for Ranger adds 10 Rage stacks after 200 Mana is spent, and the Templar’s Puppeteer branch has one that adds 4 levels to Raise Zombie gems and adds 25% more zombies per, well, zombie summon spell.
They really lean into some of the themes here, too, with Shadow’s Servant of Arakaali giving spider-like perks and the Duelist’s Gambler taking hits on their stats in exchange for high-risk payoffs. But probably the silliest one on the list is the Surfcaster for the Shadow class, which the announcement describes as a “Chill guy” who literally has perk branches—one granting 100% Critical Strikes, and one giving 50% more Cast Speed—achieved by holding a Fishing Rod.
That’s barely scratching the surface, but hopefully you sort of get the idea. In short, the Ascendancies are as follows:
- Duelist — Aristocrat, Gambler, Paladin
- Marauder — Ancestral Commander, Antiquarian, Behemoth
- Ranger — Daughter of Oshabi, Wildspeaker, Whisperer
- Scion — Scavenger
- Shadow — Blind Prophet, Servant of Arakaali, Surfcaster
All 19 of the Ascendancies are on the forum now, if you’d want to peruse and see which crazy path you’re going to follow.
Legacy of Phrecia kicks off on February 20th at 12:00 p.m. PST, and goes on in Path of Exile 1 until March 23 at 1:00 p.m. PDT (yes, Daylight Savings Time kicks off sometime during this). With the apologies out of the way for letting Path of Exile 2 get in the way, this might be worth logging off of Path of Exile 2 for a little bit for while we wait for the next update.
