Battleborn - A MOBA-FPS-RPG with a Solo and Co-Op Story Too

2K and Gearbox will be releasing the latest in a string of MOBAs later this year but unlike most, Battleborn will feature several key features that bring to mind the thought that it is an "almost MMO". Of particular note is the recently revealed progression system detailed over at Game Informer.

Battleborn will ship with twenty-five heroes and three game modes, including the ability for players to work through the story campaign cooperatively. Additionally, Gearbox is on board with making story missions interesting and valuable to replay these cooperative missions.

Typical of other MOBAs, Battleborn will have competitive 5v5 matches including Incursion (destroy the enemy base); Devastation (capture point battle); and Meltdown (said to be similar to SMITE's Arena mode).

What brings Battleborn closer to an MMO is the progression system that lies outside traditional MOBA progression and allows players to level up ten heroes to unlock skins, badges, titles, and loot that gives heroes benefits.

At this point, Battleborn doesn't have a more specific date for release other than winter 2015 and will arrive across multiple platforms including XBox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
