Less than a year after its unveiling, the newcomer-friendly, Starcraft-inspired real-time strategy game Battle Aces has been cancelled.
“Creating Battle Aces has been tremendously rewarding and we are grateful for the passion and support from our community,” the announcement post read. “Unfortunately, the returns from early testing were not strong enough to support continued development.”
“This decision was not made lightly. Battle Aces represented a bold vision — our attempt to reimagine real-time strategy for a new generation. We set out to create something fast, tactical, and approachable, while still delivering the depth that makes RTS special. Every step of the way, from internal playtests to closed betas, we were fueled by your enthusiasm, feedback, and support.”
Battle Aces was unveiled nearly a year ago at Summer Games fest, with its announcement touting several a former Starcraft 2 multiplayer developer It went through three rounds of beta, once just after SGF and twice since.
Battle Aces prided itself on a brief, approachable angle to the real-time strategy flexible, with brief, timed games and a range of available units to utilize that provided different types of strategies.
