Patch 4 for Baldur’s Gate 3 will render your current saves invalidated. However, the folks at Larian appear to have a solution.
The solution is similar to what they used for Patch 3. In short, they’re creating a branch to allow you to keep your save and continue playing on Patch 3. Here’s how:
- Right click on the game in your Steam library
- Select properties
- Click the BETAS tab
- In the list under "Select the beta you would like to opt in to", select patch3
- Close the properties menu
If you’re not sure about updating to the new patch, be sure to disable your automatic updater in Steam:
- Right click on the game in your Steam library
- Select properties
- Click the Updates tab
- Select "only update the game when I launch it" in the drop down menu
Larian also announced a Panel from Hell 2 scheduled for February 17 at 10a PT. It’ll feature Principal Rules Designer of Dungeons & Dragons Jeremy Crawford, Creative Director Swen Vincke and guests Nick Pechenin, David Walgrave, and more folks. the stream is set to reveal more news and updates for Baldur’s Gate 3.
