Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 is bringing some features you wanted and maybe some you didn’t know you wanted. Larian detailed photo mode, cross-play, and new subclasses along with updates on the mod community and continued efforts there.

Larian has a big update coming to send things off in a big way in 2025. Cross-play is finally coming, along with photo mode, and 12 new subclasses.

After the staggered releases on console, cross-play is coming. You'll be able to invite friends to a platform agnostic cross-play lobby for multiplayer and enjoy full cross platform progression and play. Play on PC and invite your friends on PlayStation 5. Mac users and PC players can align on adventures in Faerûn.

If you're looking to start a new run and feel like your options are a little stale? Well this patch will also introduce a brand new subclass for each of the existing classes. This means new abilities, visual effects, animations, summons, cantrips, new voice dialogue lines for the Oathbreaker Knight, and more.

College of Glamour, Path of Giants, Death Domain, Circle of Stars, Oath of the Crown, Arcane Archer, Drunken Master, Swarmkeeper, Swashbuckler, Shadow Magic, Hexblade, and Bladesinging are the new options. The new announcement details each of these new subclasses for Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard, respectively.

Photo mode is also finally coming. Toggle it from the HUD or a keybind. You'll be able to line up party members for a photo, including those who are in Wild Shape or even summons. Choose the angles, position them, and even adjust the camera. You'll also be able to adjust the scene, including the scene contents, NPCs, and even have access to a number of post processing tools.

There will be a Patch 8 stress test, and they're looking to start in January.

Mod support and new options are also coming. The official mod tools were released back in September and in under three months, the community uploaded over 3,000 mods and downloaded over 70 million.
