Avatar: Reckoning’s development studio will separate from its publisher and take over full operations of the game, though it remains optimistic about a 2024 release (press release via PoBear Plays).

The “MMO shooter’s” studio, Archosaur Games, a China-based mobile game studio, is separating the project from its publisher, Tencent subsidiary Level Infinite. Development remains ongoing via the studio.

The press release also says that testing will begin for the game in January 2024 in mainland China, and that the team hopes to release the game in the first half of the year, with an eventual global rollout.

A limited closed beta test was run back in June 2023, with a two-week delay between the announced date and the actual beta. The test was only available for Android players in the Philippines; there’s been little news since. Testing concluded in August of 2023, with plans to return to testing in 2024.

Level Infinite is also offering refunds to anyone who participated in this recent beta test and made in-game purchases “to ensure a smooth transition and to show appreciation for your support.” Players who wish to claim these refunds will have all requests approved through the Google Play Store refund system through their purchase history’s “Report a problem” option.  Players were already offered refunds of items purchased during the beta, but it seems the news expedited this process.  Refunds will be available until February 12, 2024.

Originally, the game was announced for a 2022 release in January of that year, though progress seems to have been minimal. The Disney-licensed game promises a variety of playstyles, including single-player missions, co-op, and PvP modes, with Na’vi players taking on Earth-based troops who look to continue to steal resources from their planet.
