In celebration of the release of "cats and pandas" on the Minecraft Bedrock servers, developers are challenging players to place a million bamboo blocks to trigger a donation to the World Wildlife Fund in the amount of $100,000. "We're confident this donation isn't a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when"," developers wrote. Last year, the Minecraft community was instrumental in seeing $100,000 donated to the Nature Conservancy, so devs are confident in the same happening this year.

As of this week, cats and pandas have released for Minecraft players on Bedrock platforms! It’s the kind of great news that makes us want to celebrate by dancing and singing! Or – better idea – celebrate by supporting an amazing organization, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), that helps protect pandas. Yeah, let’s do that instead!

For those who want to "look the part", the Paws and Claws Cosplay Pack is available in the Marketplace that provides a panda or Siamese cat appearance to avatars. "The majority of sales from this pack will go to the WWF and support their work protecting panda habitats and other vulnerable species".
