Ubisoft has pushed Assassin's Creed Shadows back, delaying the upcoming game set in Feudal Japan till February 14th, 2025.
In a statement posted to social media, Ubisoft announced the decision to push the upcoming Assassin's Creed installment back from its initial November release date. The decision is to provide more time for polish and to "refine the experience," according to the statement.
"This is an ambitious addition to the franchise, a rich experience that can be lived through the eyes of two unique protagonists - but we realize we need more time to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features."

As such, the upcoming game will now launch in February, and the statement also confirmed a Steam release at the same time which before it wasn't even announced to be coming to the platform. Assassin's Creed Shadows is also coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and even Mac and iPhones day and date with the wider release.
Ubisoft is also doing something that feels pretty unprecedented by refunding any existing pre-orders, and giving future pre-orders the game's first expansion for free.
This news comes a day after Ubisoft abruptly canceled its Tokyo Game Show presence, and, as Insider Gaming reports, also canceled planned press previews slated for next week. It'll be interesting to see how it shakes up as the upcoming Assassins Creed is one many fans of the series have been waiting over a decade for: an assassin adventure set within Feudal Japan.
The setting is one of the more interesting in recent years, and Ubisoft is allowing it to play out through the eyes of two very different protagonists: the historical Samurai and retainer to Oda Nobunaga, Yasuke, as well as a Ninja named Naoe.
