Assassin's Creed Mirage is the next installment in the long-running series by Ubisoft, though if you had it on your bingo card that it would be coming to a phone OS this year, you might be the only one.
Announced today during Apple's Wunderlust Event, Assassin's Creed: Mirage, Resident Evil Village, and the recent Resident Evil 4 Remake will be coming to iOS, specifically the powerful iPhone 15 Pro, this fall, and it won't be a pared-down mobile port, rather the full-fledged experience you will get on any other platform.
Death Stranding, which is also coming to Mac, was recalled as well. Assassin's Creed Mirage will be releasing in te first half of 2024, while the Resident Evil entries and Death Stranding are coming later this fall. This is thanks to the new A17 chip in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, which enables more powerful gaming performance, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
As far as how well these experiences will play on the iPhone remains to be seen, and whether or not they will be built with touchscreen controls in hand, or whether you'll need a paired controller (or maybe even one of these mobile-specific controllers) to play. But it's an interesting day to be a mobile gaming fan, as more AAA experiences are now possible on the more powerful silicon.
Assassin's Creed: Mirage releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and PC on October 5th.
