Ashes of Creation showed off its second starting area, The Anvils, and the new biome of Junark in its latest development stream. The new area features much to discover, from new enemies to pocket dungeons, and the environmental storytelling elements that AoC is going for.
The stream follows recent extension of Alpha two's second phase and move to a fresh start stress test server until the third phase opens in August. These significant new updates show off the jungle biome that you can explore, predators to discover, ancient ruins, and some lore bits to be aware of as you progress through the new areas.
Jundark’s Terrain was long known for having deadly diseases and dangerous predators all around so the place stayed pretty untouched for a while. So there is both danger and opportunity waiting for you in this new area. Pocket dungeons are there to discover, so if you're willing to explore and take the risk, the team says the rewards will be worth it. If you are someone with Alpha access, you can find out for yourself. For now, the gameplay preview is here.
They also previewed The Turquoise Sea and The Anvils. The Turquoise Sea Is introducing navigation and sailing, you'll navigate between islands and discover secrets and perhaps dangerous sea creatures. They made sure to let us know that everything's a work in progress so it's just a peek for now, And we shouldn't expect it to be on par with everything that's already released.
The Anvils is in the homeland of the dwarven artisan people, the Dünzenkell. They created a civilization that thrived within the mountain range, where forges met stone, hence the name of the area. You won't be surprised to learn that there are ancient secrets to learn, some darkness to explore and threats within the mountain.
Once again, this is alpha so we can't expect this to be on par with the Riverlands yet.
