In anticipation for its upcoming Alpha 2 release in Q3 this year (which is sooner than you think), Ashes of Creations’s creative Director, Steven Sharif, joined several content creators for a community AMA.
The discussion covers a solid spread of topics, including lore, guild mechanics, dungeons, and plenty more. There’s also discussion about the types of “Nodes” available, or inhabitable regions influenced by players.
There’s some clarification about dungeon and event instances, with some being instanced for parties, raids and players. However, there’ll be some open-world dungeons, with the intention of creating natural “friction” due to scarcity and rarity.
Sharif clarifies, as well, the presence of economic bits such as auction houses and player shops and stalls in certain Nodes. Some players believed that only Economic Nodes could hold these types of features, but Economic Nodes’ permits actually more specifically allow players to set up literally anywhere in the world—even dungeons, as an example.
He also gets into discussing the Rogue with some good and bad news. Good is, they’ll have “True Stealth,” which doesn’t dissipate with proximity to targets. Bad news? The Rogue won’t be in Alpha 2, with the choice made to instead on current Archetypes, though it’ll show up sometime after A2 goes live.
It’s a lengthy stream, with an hour of very good questions, so if there’s something you’re curious about in Ashes of Creation and its upcoming Alpha 2, it’s definitely worth a watch. It seems the team’s plenty open about its development, from new Archetypes to the nitty-gritty of graphics updates.
