In the face of dwindling player counts, Marvel’s Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics has promised new content soon.

As of this writing, the Steam player count for Avengers sees a 24 hour peak of just above 2200 players, with an all-time peak of 28,145 players. In the just over month since release, player count has steadily decreased, settling into the current player count. A partial explanation can be attributed to simple boredom of the player base as documented on Reddit.

It appears Crystal Dynamics knows this since they released a statement basically promising new content and asking players to hang in there,

“As such, we have a number of new content pieces coming in the weeks ahead including: a totally new War Zone mission type called Tachyon Rifts, a new Outpost that’s a jumping off point for new story missions in the future, and AIM’s Cloning Lab, which requires a coordinated high-level group of four players to beat with new top-end loot rewards for finishing it. And in each of these updates we do tuning and bug fixing to enhance the overall experience.”

The statement continues, promising more content and addressing the low player count,

“We are confident that we’ll see PC players (as well as those on Xbox One and PlayStation 4) return to the game as we add exciting new late-game content and demonstrate that we continue to be focused on improving the game.”
