ARK is headed to mobile devices in a new way this holiday with ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition.
Studio Wildcard partnered with Grove Street Games to port over the ARK experience this time. They promise that the massive scale of the dino adventure will remain intact . The Ultimate Survivor Edition includes the full original PC game, along with all of the expansion packs: Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, Genesis Part 1 & 2. The community-created Ragnarok map is also part of the package.
In a press release announcing the upcoming release, the team emphasizes that they want to bring the same survival experience to mobile, including the massive maps, more than 150 dinosaurs and other creatures to discover, tame, and train, as well as survival mechanics like tribe dynamics and other practical elements like crafting and building. So expect to get stranded on a mysterious island, learn to hunt, build some shelter, grow some crops, and then begin to tame some creatures and start to ride those dinosaurs.
The mobile version will be optimized and will include every improvement made since the original 2015 launch. Ultimate Survivor Edition uses Unreal Engine 4 improvements to make it possible to take the ARK experience on the go. Getting the full collection of maps in an on the go experience is a big move, but one that Grove Street’s CEO Thomas Williamson, says was highly requested.
While all of those expansions and maps are planned, at launch, we can expect just the ARK Island and Scorched Earth. The rest of the maps will be rolling out throughout Next year and we'll have all of them by the end of 2025.
