The free-to-play dino survival game Ark has dropped its Ultimate Mobile Edition, a full-on new game, for Android and iPhone. Ultimate Mobile Edition, unlike the original game, will support all maps and expansions, though like with any expansion, you’ll have to pay extra for each of those. But hey, it’s better than just the Island.
This version of the mobile game version of the dinosaur science fiction survival game was originally announced back in July, with more details unveiled during an Extra Life charity stream.
From that Q&A, we know that The Island, the initial map, will be free, though expansion maps will cost extra. Players can either buy maps individually or buy the ARK Pass, which also entitles players to God Console, bonus XP, and monthly keys.
Also, there is cross-saving for multiplayer characters between devices via login accounts, but not for solo characters. Characters will be fresh and not carried over from the original mobile game.
The original mobile version of Ark came out in 2018, though it doesn’t get as much attention from fans as the PC and console version does. This includes the fact that none of the expansions were carried over onto this version, not to mention there was only one map to play on and a ton of relative “nerfs” compared to the PC/console version, leaving a relatively incomplete experience.
We recently listed the original Ark as a game to keep around in your inventory, given it’s such a classic survival game that you can occasionally see your friends playing (and maybe even play occasionally yourself).
