Ark: Survival Evolved has released its final creature. The Rhyniognatha arrived eight years after the initial launch into Early Access, and before the game shuts down this summer.
Studio Wildcard has released a happy 8th anniversary artwork with creatures across Ark: Survival Evolved, as well as released info on the first community-chosen creature that will be added to the upcoming Ark: Survival Ascended. They've also reminded us that the Ark animated series is on the way, and eventually, Ark 2.
Before the game’s servers close in August, and battle royale Ark: Survival Ascended comes out, there’s one more spotlight to be had. The Rhyniognatha. Submitted as a competitor back in February, the creature is now available on The Island and Lost Island. The design is based on a creature some considered to be one of the oldest, if not the oldest, insects.
They are large and they have some unique abilities, including producing a hardening resin, and they're useful for carrying large objects around your base. Effectively, they make for a strong defense for your tribe. You can't tame a wild Rhyniognatha if you encounter one, and you cannot breed domestic ones, so if you want one that is tamed, the process requires a bit of a learning curve.
There is a spotlight video for the new edition, and of course it is bittersweet since this is the last creature. the decision to shut down the servers was a controversial one, but Studio Wildcard is going ahead with the release of Ark: Survival Ascended. With that game, the first community chosen creature has been revealed. Fasolasuchus will be the first creature added to Scorched Earth in the new game. In the vote, this pick scored over 49,000 votes.
