Seattle-based ArenaNet is planning a community meetup event during the weekend of PAX West to celebrate the launch of Guild Wars 2's latest expansion.

The community meetup is scheduled for September 1st from 7-10pm Pacific time in Seattle, and aims to bring the devs and community together to celebrate the launch of Secrets of the Obscure, which launches later this month on August 24th. The evening will be filled with food, drink and giveaways, with ample time for players and developers to mingle and talk about an MMO we all love.

The event will take place at the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle, which is about a mile or so away from the Seattle Convention Center, and while it's open to players to attend, space will be limited. ArenaNet is opening up tickets for players to claim for free starting August 11th to guarantee you'll be able to get into the party. However, if you miss ticket registration, there will be a standby line at the venue to get people in as capacity allows.

"This event will be Friday, September 1 from 7-10 PM Pacific time, and while the event is free the venue capacity is limited. You can register to attend here beginning August 11 at 9 AM Pacific time to guarantee admission. If you're not able to register before all tickets are claimed, we will have a standby line at the venue and will admit guests as attendance and capacity allow. "

I was able to attend last year's community meetup celebrating the 10th anniversary of the MMO, as well as the success of End of Dragons, and it was a stellar time. ArenaNet really knows how to put on a player gathering, so if you're in the area and want to meet some of the devs and mingle with players, this is something to keep on your weekend's schedule.

Secrets of the Obscure is set to release on August 22nd, featuring a new story as well as some familiar faces returning, including actress Felicia Day reprising her role as Zojja in the new content drop.
