In a blog post on the Guild Wars 2 website today, the team at ArenaNet laid out their vision for the future of Guild Wars 2, including word that they are hard at work on an upcoming third epxansion of the venerable MMO.

The post detailed multiple different points the team is working on moving forward with Guild Wars 2, including festivals, new episodes and content for The Icebrood Saga as well as the return of the Tournament of Legends at the beginning of the summer.

However, arguably the big news is the announcement that a new expansion for Guild Wars 2 is currently being developed. While we don't have any concrete details at this time, the fact that this is now officially in the works is sure to excite Guild Wars 2 fans who've waited for a new expansion for quite some time now.

"Development is underway on a third Guild Wars 2 expansion. The team is hard at work, and it’s much too soon to talk about any details right now, including features, story, release date, or development timeline. We’ll have to stick to that until we’re ready to reveal more information to the world. When we are ready, you’ll definitely know!"

You can check out the full blog post at the Guild Wars 2 website. Additionally, for those who are interested - the next update, Visions of the Past: Steel and Fire is due out next week on March 17th.
