As Apple moves away from Intel based CPU’s and on to building Macs with their own processors, again, a lot of companies have stated that a client transition may be too costly of an undertaking for such a small gaming market. EVE Online developer CCP feels differently, and plans to have a client released natively for macOS soon.
At this time, the plan for the native macOS client is sometime in the first quarter of 2021. Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CCP Game’s CEO stated:
“CCP Games has always strived to deliver the best possible experience for our players. By bringing EVE Online natively to macOS, we are continuing that journey in ensuring that our definitive sci-fi MMO will have a home on the Mac far into the future.”
EVE Online isn’t against broadening their horizons, as they recently announced Japanese localization. They’ve also planned some updates to Drone Aggression which is planned for later this month.
