Fresh start servers are not new, but there are a number of games that have either launched, or will be launching new fresh start servers soon. Joining a list that includes ArcheAge, RuneScape, and World of Warcraft, ArcheAge: Unchained will open its own fresh start server on September 15th.
The original ArcheAge has had a fresh start server cycling since Kakao Games took over publishing rights. That server went live on December 3, 2021, but all of the content was gated and rolled out in pieces over time. ArcheAge will be rolling out new fresh start servers this month as well.
Now, ArcheAge: Unchained’s turn will go live with the full content available from the start. These decisions all come after all of the feedback that the Kakao team learned from the previous fresh start server, with regards to community concerns and issues. The team shared some of those lessons in their announcement of the upcoming fresh start server.
While this new server is running, they’ll be providing a number of bonuses meant to help players progress and not simply get left behind, especially when they eventually transfer over to a live regional server. Not gating the content rollout this time is another factor.
“To address one of the feedback about the daily/weekly content not being as rewarding compared to the effort you put into the game, we are adding an event exclusive to the fresh start server where you can get double the rewards for the weekly quests.”
They’ve published a schedule on when events like Land Rush will happen, when server transfers open and close, and when the fresh start server will close.
Land Rush will happen September 24th, and server transfers will open on November 24th, close on December 7th, right before the fresh start server closes on December 8th.
