ArcheAge Chronicles, formerly known as ArcheAge 2, has been delayed again, as revealed by Kakao Games' Q3 2024 financial disclosure. Kakao is now targeting a 2026 release for the upcoming MMORPG.
ArcheAge Chronicles was revealed back in September, with the new name taking over the placeholder ArcheAge 2 we've been hearing about for a few year now. Chronicles was slated for a 2025 release, according to the reveal during Sony's State of Play, but according to Kakao Games' financial report today (via Reddit), that has now shifted to 2026. This isn't the first delay the MMORPG (though Kakao and XL Games are hesitant to call it that) has faced, nor is it the first time we've heard that it could slip out of 2025. Now it's official, though interested players may still get to play the MMO next year in a closed beta test.
During the earnings call, Kakao stated that the development and polishing process has begun in earnest on both ArcheAge Chronicles as well as another MMORPG, Chrono Odyssey, which finally got a more defined release window of Q4 2025 (where before it was just "2025"). During the call, the Kakao team touched on some topics, including the monetization model they are aiming for with ArcheAge Chronicles (buy-to-play with microtransactions), as well as reception by console players being generally positive, highlighting the visuals and world the reveal trailer showcased.
The team also stated that in the lead-up to the Closed Beta Test for ArcheAge Chronicles, interested players can look forward to more videos and breakdowns of what to expect in the upcoming MMO, much like the team has been doing the last month since September reveal.
