For those who’ve been awaiting ArcheAge 2, the wait is going to be a good deal longer. According to Kakao Games’ most recent financial report, the game won’t launch until sometime after 2025.

Back in November, the company’s financial report and earnings call included details that Kakao and XL Games were likely going to reveal details and much more on the game at this year’s Gamescom in August, followed by a closed beta test in 2024. This would’ve moved the game into at least 2025, but with great likelihood that we’d see a lot more and even get to playtests.

More recently, their Q4 2023 report revealed that the game had been listed as “post 25”, meaning it won’t come out until after 2025. The quiet detail (shared originally over on Reddit and cited by MOP)  slipped into a financial report and without a formal announcement is a reason why it has gone under the radar for a few weeks.

ArcheAge 2  was announced back in 2020, and at last count, after some delays, was supposed to release sometime this year. Kakao Games’ projections had kept the expected release sometime in 2024, until that November info came out. The game is leaving the large-scale PvP behind and hoping to appeal to a Western audience, and  a global one too, with a new approach.

For some time now, Kakao has been looking forward, and while ArcheAge 2 is still in development, it looks like that development time will extend further out than we were anticipating. There are still a few months before Gamescom, so we’ll have to wait and see if Kakao and XL Games go ahead with those reveals at the event.
