Just as many titles before Apex Legends, the review bombs have arrived after a change was made in the latest update regarding the Battle Pass.
Just a few days ago, the developers at EA and Respawn decided that the Battle Pass needed an overhaul, but allegedly this was the worst way to do it. The change basically took the $10 per month Battle Pass and made it $20 per month instead, with the promise of “additional value”. This change might not have been as bad if the devs didn’t wait until 22 seasons in to decide the price needed to increase, and fans on Steam have been leaving scathing reviews since the change was made.
Most of the reviews are discussing the outrage from the Battle Pass changes, while others say that other aspects of the game have “aged like milk”, and that if Respawn and EA don’t do something quickly, Apex Legends will die out. Some of these reviews also state that unless the original Battle Pass is brought back, they will no longer be playing the FPS.
It’s also interesting that this price increase happened just after several layoffs at Respawn Entertainment, which affected 5% of their workforce. Time will only tell how EA and Respawn will address these concerns, but one can only hope they do so before players decide to leave the title behind for good.
