Cross play has finally arrived for Apex Legends allowing play between PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The feature is technically in beta, so except some hiccups. However, according the blog post, the much-requested feature will allow you to party up with your friends across platforms on PS4, Xbox One, and Origin on PC. Steam cross play looks like it’s incoming. Additionally, cross play will be enabled by default.

You’ll be able to view all your friends in addition to the platform they’re playing. Cross play parties will utilize the in-game voice chat. However, keep in mind that cross play does not mean cross progression. Respawn will talk more about cross progression once the Steam launch happens later this year.

Regarding matchmaking, all console players can play with each other, and PC players can continue to match against PC players. Respawn mentions they don’t want keyboard and mouse PC gamers to be matched against console gamers, “for reasons that should be obvious. But if a console gamer and PC gamer do match up, they’ll be placed in a PC match to make sure console games don’t have PC players in them.

Additionally, a limited time mode called Flashpoint is set to release on October 6. Flash points are zones around the map which regen your health and shields over time. However, other squads may have the same idea, so you can see where the double meaning of the term “flash point” comes from. The circle in this new mode will always close on a flash point which should make for exciting matches.
