In a Q2 earnings call as reported by PCGamesN, AMD CEO Lisa Su intimated a high-end Navi graphics card may be on the way.
Having just released the Navi 5700 and 5700 XT, AMD reported so-so GPU results for Q2 with graphics revenue decreasing year-over-year. However, in response to a question from Rosenblatt’s Securities’ Hans Mosesmann about a 7nm high-end Navi GPU, Dr. Su replied with,
“I would say they are coming. You should expect that our execution on those are on track and we have a rich 7nm portfolio beyond the products that we have currently announced in the upcoming quarters.”
Of course, we don’t know at present if these will be APUs, or actual high-end Navi cards. The RDNA-architected top-end Navi today, the 5700 XT, proved to be a great 1440p performer in our own testing, with Hardware Editor Chris Coke concluding,
“They don’t have raytracing, that’s a draw back, but considering the level of support and performance-cost RT features bring, frankly, I don’t much mind. Much more important is that they deliver better-than-2070 frame rates for less than the cost of a 2070 while at the same time offering image enhancement to give you a better, crisper image.”
