Throne and Liberty is getting its Western release this September, and there’s an open beta set for later this month. Amazon Games is now in promo mode, with a new video delving into character customization and the powerful shapeshifting into animals and huge golems.
Your character will be known as a Starborn. The new preview starts off by setting the tone for the Starborn’s journey in the world of Solisium, before taking us through some of the character customization options for human characters, from different hairstyles, skin tones, accessories, facial features, and more. Then it gets to some of the other fun stuff we'll get to enjoy in the game: shapeshifting.
One of Throne and Liberty’s standout features will be the way you;ll get to transform into various animals as you progress with your character. It seems that you'll have choices, because the game shows off a number of animal options, being sure to mention that they are from the land, sea, and air. In the game, travel and combat will also include elements of verticality and environment. Maybe in a siege, you might need to fight some enemies higher up, and your ability to transform into a powerful bird is going to mean the difference between victory and loss. Confirmed animal options include wolves, otters, ravens, and panthers.
The ability to shapeshift and transform doesn't end at various animals or common creatures. Another major feature that is linked to the large-scale sieges Throne and Liberty offers is the ability to transform into huge siege golems.
When the Korean version previewed these golems, one was really good at destroying walls, one was a ranged attacker, another was good at jumping and hitting really hard, and another you could climb up to go over the walls.
The accompanying devblog also goes into versatility in combat, where you can swap from a ranged to a melee weapon, If you choose, and essentially create a build that works with your playstyle.
