Kotaku has a new report that Amazon Game Studios has laid off "dozens of developers" and that it has reportedly canceled a number of unannounced games. The news of the layoffs came as the gaming world's attention was focused on E3 in Los Angeles.

Those laid off have said that they have 60 days to find new work within Amazon or, if they cannot, will receive a severance package.

The only two announced projects AGS is working on are Crucible and New World. Breakaway was the company's first game but it met with little critical acclaim and was canceled in 2017.

Amazon responded to the story by saying -

Amazon Game Studios is reorganizing some of our teams to allow us to prioritize development of New WorldCrucible, and new unannounced projects we’re excited to reveal in the future. These moves are the result of regular business planning cycles where we align resources to match evolving, long-range priorities. We’re working closely with all employees affected by these changes to assist them in finding new roles within Amazon. Amazon is deeply committed to games and continues to invest heavily in Amazon Game Studios, Twitch, Twitch Prime, AWS, our retail businesses, and other areas within Amazon.
