The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is based on the history of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth and draws its primary inspiration from the appendices of The Lord of the Rings. Set in the Second Age, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and LOTR, it covers the events leading to the forging of the Rings of Power and the ascent of the Dark Lord, Sauron.
