Almost 2 Million Baldur's Gate 3 Players Were Turned Into Cheese, And Other Stats As Larian Celebrates The RPG's One Year Anniversary

It's been a year since Baldur's Gate 3 was released on PC, and Larian Studios is looking back on that first year and sharing some interesting statistics from the community.

In a series of Infographics posted to their social platforms, Larian Studios shared a multitude of player stats, including the number of players who were turned into wheels of cheese (1.9 million, myself included), as well as which characters were the most popular in each playthrough (Y'all really liked Astarion).

The RPG's Honour Mode, which was added after launch and made the RPG punishingly difficult (not least because there was no save scumming allowed), saw over 1.2 million playthroughs end in defeat, while 141,660 succeeded in completing the RPG in the new mode.

Other notable stats include the most played class being the Paladin, while 15% of players who chose a custom avatar chose to play as the Dark Urge. Also, Scratch, the puppy dog you can inherit through your journey, has thankfully been pet over 120 million times. Because he's a good boy and deserves all of those pets.

There are some spoilers here as well, so if you've yet to start or complete a playthrough, beware that a few of the endings are referenced in a few of the infographics. But it's interesting to see how many players approached the endgame differently, and I'm now eager to try one out in the next playthrough.

Baldur's Gate 3 is likely going to go down as one of the best CRPGs in history thanks to the sheer amount of player choice and level of detail given to the experience by its developers. In our 10/10 review, we called Baldur's Gate 3 a "modern masterpiece," and that still holds true a year later. It's not over, either, as the developers are planning on rolling out its next update soon, with Update 7 planned for later this year.

You can check out the full swathe of infographics below, but be warned - Spoilers abound for some of the endings.
