Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be getting a story expansion on August 30th. Called Aliens: Fireteam Elite: Pathogen, the new DLC features new missions, new weapons, a new perk for each class kit, new weapon customization options, and new emotes for communicating with teammates.
The expansion DLC will be available to buy across all supported platforms (Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5). The new DLC will not be the only update coming, as Cold Iron revealed a new update that will release free for all alongside the Pathogen expansion. This update will include a new roguelike hardcore mode that lets marines face an extreme survival challenge to see who makes it to the other side. Death in this mode means permadeath, though your weapons and unlocks will be preserved for you to try again. There's also an update in July scheduled to bring cross-play to Let players from all of those supported platforms to team up together.
There's a new narrative trailer introducing the circumstances behind what's going on in pathogen. Something has evolved to threaten all life, including the Xenomorphs. You are the crew of the Endeavor, and it's your job to venture out into those new lands and face some enemies, in an effort to discover what's going on and how to stop this mysterious threat. There are three new story missions, brand new enemies, new tools and cosmetics.
There are eight new weapons, with two for each weapon type, a brand new perk for each class kit that will modify your main ability in some way, new outfits for all seven class kits, and much in terms of customization. Weapons alone will get 26 new weapon attachments that will let you customize your stats and gain special abilities to suit your playstyle. There will also be 21 new weapon colors and nine decals to customize with.
