Wild Blood, the next big content update for Albion Online, is coming October 16th. Expect shapeshifting, tracking, new Awakened items, and a number of reworks and updates.
Shapeshifter Weapons are going to shake things up in terms of player build options. Once you get your hands on some of these weapons, you'll be able to transform into different shapes, which is what the team is calling the different creatures whose forms you can take.
When it comes to player builds, you can create your own build for your regular character and change shape with the new weapon type. That creature you change into might feature a completely different set of strengths and weaknesses. You'll be able to change your form even while in combat, in case you need a fresh approach to solve a problem.
Tracking is a related (and rewarding) new feature on the way. You can take a group to track creatures across the open world, even between regions. When you finally confront your target, if you can defeat it, your rewards could include new alchemical ingredients and even new artifacts that you can use in crafting Shapeshifter Weapons.
Wild Blood is also adding Awakened Items, which is the introduction of a new system for upgrading your weapons and leaving your mark on them. Earn yourself Attunement points, spend them to add Traits to your weapon and create one of a kind items that way. Even if you eventually lose one of your items in PvP, it will return to the game as loot so these weapons will gain a bit of their own legacy. Eventually, with a later content update, Awakened items can become Legendary.
The update will also change a few things like having new graphics to Personal Islands to spruce things up a bit, and the team has reworked farming. These are not the only updates on the way, and we can expect more details over the coming weeks, but we now know when the next chapter of Albion Online is coming.
