Albion Online’s Paths to Glory update is live now, adding the Albion Journal achievement system, along with new rewards, improvements to the Roads of Avalon, dynamic spawn rates, and new Crystal Weapons.
The Albion Journal is at the center of the update. The journal offers a number of activities within categories and subcategories. As you start completing activities, new ones will unlock and you can choose some that will take a single play session and others that you might have to work towards in more steps to get some of the more unique rewards.
You can pick the missions that sound best to you from a series of categories and subcategories like PVP, exploration, gathering, PvE, and the economy. As you complete missions throughout the categories, you'll unlock rewards depending on the percentage of completion of all of the missions within that category. Complete 20% of them and you'll get a special avatar. Do 80% and claim a new mount skin. For the completionists, do 100% of the missions and you'll walk away with a rare elite version of the Wardrobe item and vanity spell for the category.
The Roads of Avalon have gotten some changes, including a number of balance changes and adjustments to content. Tracking is now possible within the Roads, and the new Shadowmask is the latest quarry. Group loot gets boosted up, while some solo loot is adjusted for balance. There are fewer gathering areas, but those that remain get boosted respawn rates. The team is looking to make the Roads attractive for loot but not as concentrated for leveling.
Another big adjustment in the Roads and The open world itself is the introduction of Dynamics spawn rates. What this means is that the treasure, resources, and mobs will spawn at rates that correspond to how busy the server is. If you are playing at peak times there should still be resources for you together and mobs to hunt.
Paths to Glory adds three more Crystal Weapons, and unlocks the spells on all weapons from tier 4.
There are many more changes, including a number of balance tweaks to be aware of, and there are tons more details in the full update notes.
