Albion Online’s Foundations update will launch on April 15th. It’s a big month for the game, which is adding a new Albion Europe server, as well as bringing some more big changes in this next update.
Foundations will further change warfare in the game, with the addition of Fortifications, Siege Banners, new Territory Activity Chests, and more. The update also adds some more Crystal Weapons with unique spells.
Fortifications are a new layer to guild warfare which sets up upgradable territory defenses. Since these could make you work harder for that siege victory, it also buys some more time for defenders, and helps to potentially offset the sometimes vast disadvantage that smaller guilds have. You'll also have to consider whether your territory battles are going to require more effort and a different strategy if you are coming up against these upgradable defenses.
Siege Banners are a new requirement for raiding or conquering a territory. Raise one near your target territory and they will start to gradually weaken its Fortifications. Eventually, they’ll become vulnerable to attack, while the banners deliver some combat bonuses to the attacking guild and nearby allies. Watch out, though, since the banner holder can be attacked, making the banner drop, and attackers can even destroy the banner. It’s one way that defenders can counter and nullify a raid attempt.
Territory Activity Chests are among the rewards you can aim for during all of these new siege updates. These will fill with rewards each day through PvE activity in the territory and region, so it’s in your interest for guilds to be active in the region.
When Prime Time arrives on a server (optimized for all three regions once Albion Europe launches), the Fortifications become attackable, and those chests also become open to being raided. What’s more, the value of each chest will be displayed on the map, so if your guild is building a valuable nest egg, it’s a likely target.
The Albion Online Foundations update will also add the next three Crystal Weapons – Arctic Staff (Frost Staff), Phantom Twinblade (Quarterstaff), and Crystal Reaper (Axe).
