While the Albion Online team began announcing and celebrating some of the 6th anniversary last week, today is the official 6th anniversary since launch. The Sandbox Online team reviews the past year in development, shares some significant changes and stats,,and reminds us all that there are still giveaways, Twitch Drops, and event celebrations to continue.
The Living Legacy event continues, running on both Albion East and Albion West this year, in order to maintain server balance and mob variety. Even those who primarily play on the Eastern server will be able to engage and have fun with the anniversary fun. Statues of three different tiers and difficulties have been spread out all over the world, with some new ones this year, including some new rewards.
Starting today, and running through July 24th, there will be extra Twitch Drops and community contests that the team is backing.
The year in review starts with the first round of the Living Legacy event, and the fifth anniversary stream, where the developers discussed all things creating the game. They also gave a sneak peek at what to expect, and those developments, like the Beyond the Veil update, changed the game.
After ending 2022 with some new accolades, this year began with one of the biggest announcements and changes: the launch of Albion East. The server was announced in early in the year and an opening date was set in March after a closed beta, that included a beta guild season to fully test things out before welcoming a flood of players. Any Albion player can play on either server, but those who are located in Asia or Oceania for example, will probably benefit the most, both in terms of ping and adjusted scheduling.
Sandbox interactive is also sharing some stats, noting that the launch of Albion East helped the game break its all-time player record with over 300,000 active users in April. Other big changes came, like this spring’s Knightfall update, which improved upon Beyond the Veil and The Mists, added the Knightfall Abbey dungeon, and much more.
The team also looks ahead once again now that we have arrived at the 6th anniversary, with the recently announced Shapeshifter weapons, that will let players shapeshift and take on the abilities of the shape that they change into, allowing for a hugely open build variety..
