Albion Online has wrapped up an eventful 2024, marking one of its most ambitious years to date with four major updates and fifteen patches.  In the latest video with Game Director Robin Henkys, he details how far the game has truly come in the past year, and notes that the team is eyeing 2025 as another banner year for updates.

It would be safe to say that for Albion Online 2024 began with something for those hardcore fans out there with the Crystal Raiders update, which introduced Territory Raiding to guild warfare, allowing guilds to raid rival territories for Energy. Henkys noted that Crystal Raiders also debuted the first batch of Crystal Weapons, which added unique abilities and new strategic build options to the game.

The momentum continued with the Foundations update,, where he noted the extension to guild warfare by introducing Fortifications and Siege Banners, along with Territory Activity Chests to reward active guilds and incentivize attackers.

Mid-year brought the Paths to Glory update, with the promionently featured Albion Journal, built as a mechanism to earn cosmetic rewards for various challenges. Henkys also noted the rework of the Roads of Avalon which also brough on revamped rewards as well.

The year concluded with Horizons, a major overhaul of the open world. This update introduced dynamic points of interest, boosted rewards for high-tier mobs, and added S.A.F.E. Portals to support solo players in the Outlands. While Albion Online may not be everyone's cup of tea, those who tried it at some point in the game's 8 years might want to jump back in and see what all has changed after Sadnbox Interactive's aggressive update schedule.

Henkys didn't stop at just recapping 2024. Looking ahead to 2025, the development team has announced plans to expand Outlands content with small-scale objectives, add new trade opportunities, and intrduce additional Crystal Weapons.

The team will also address economic imbalances in the Gold market and shift to a two-month season cycle for more impactful updates. He also detailed future plans to revisit Hellgates and Corrupted Dungeons while taking another pass at Faction and Guild Warfare. We can only hope that 2025 will be another stellar year for Albion Online
