Albion Online’s next major update has been revealed, and it is coming in July. Paths to Glory Is adding a number of new features, including new challenges, rewards, improvements to guild islands and changes to the Roads of Avalon.
One of the big new features is the Albion Journal. This is, as Game Director Robin Henkys says, “the heart of the update. It's also where the update gets its name. The journal will offer a number of tasks and challenges that will take you to different areas to complete. Tasks will be of increasing difficulty, so you can push yourself as far as you want to earn unique rewards and to enjoy more content. Sandbox Interactive will reveal much more about the journal itself and how it works in a future dev talk.
A few community requests are fulfilled in the update. Now, guilds will be able to own more than one island. in fact they will be able to own one per Royal City. They’ll also add some new city-specific looks for guild islands. Another requested feature is being able to overcharge twice to increase the overcharge duration. This comes at a cost of a higher risk of breaking the item after the period ends. Also on the way is the ability to use all spells on Tier 4 weapons. Finally, a party ready check function is coming. You can easily check and make sure your group is geared up and ready, no one is afk, and make sure everyone is set to head out into the dungeon, A siege, or wherever.
Corrupted dungeon maps are coming, alongside three new activity events for The Mists, Tracking, and the Roads of Avalon. One of the other major parts of this update is a series of improvements to the Roads. Their data show that activity in the area was higher than ever, but they had highly conflicting feedback from different player groups. So the update is going to focus on the core experience, to serve as an extension of the open world and connect different places, with an emphasis on content suitable for smaller groups. Expect more PVE areas and fewer gathering areas. Plus, Tracking is coming to the roads, including a new target to track, and more adjustments.
Work on small scale PVP content will continue.
Finally, the third batch of Crystal Weapons is coming, with new ways to use daggers, mace, and Holy staff.
